Finally the buds have burst.

Apple blossom at the allotment

Usually the apple tree in number 70 is in bloom by the end of April, but this year everything has been delayed by the cold weather.

I have been digging the soil in recent weeks wearing two jumpers, and this afternoon it felt too chilly for anything more than a quick strim!

So delighted to see the apple blossom coming through. Also, very happy to be digging and finding so many worms. Every square inch of the soil seems to be writhing, which is always a good sign.

Earlier, we did a muddy bluebell walk in Marstakes wood. I will add in some thoughts on where to see bluebells at this time of year, in a separate post.
